CDM 2015 Record Help

Organize a Great Britain CDM 2015 project record covering project facts, dutyholders, F10 indicators, appointments and evidence.

How to use the CDM 2015 Record

Collect the project scope, client context, contractor structure, expected duration and workforce, dutyholder appointments and the location of supporting evidence.

The workspace starts blank. Load example temporarily fills the controls with demonstration data; reload or use the tool’s New or reset action, where provided, before entering live information.

  • Name the record, attach a Project if appropriate, and choose Commercial or Domestic client plus Single or More than one contractor.
  • Enter Construction working days, Maximum simultaneous workers and Estimated person-days, then record the project or construction scope note.
  • Review the generated dutyholder, plan and notification actions and mark the available appointment or evidence records.
  • Set issue status and save the dated record; revisit it whenever contractor structure, duration, workforce or appointments change.

Worked examples

These examples explain the set-up, expected output and review needed without changing the tool workspace.

Missing appointment evidence

Set-up
Select a commercial client and more than one contractor, then leave principal-designer or principal-contractor appointment evidence unresolved.
Result
The record identifies the relevant coordination action instead of assuming the appointment exists.
Review
Obtain and verify the actual written appointment and project arrangements outside the tool.

Notification indicator review

Set-up
Enter 32 working days, a peak of 22 workers and 420 person-days with a stated programme source.
Result
The threshold screen indicates that notification information needs review and records the input basis.
Review
Confirm the current project facts and legal interpretation with the dutyholders before acting.

Suggested workflow

Place the tool in a controlled project or practice process rather than treating its output as an isolated verdict.

  • Establish client, contractor and project facts at appointment and pre-construction stages.
  • Assign each generated action to verifiable appointment, plan or notification evidence.
  • Review the record at material project changes and retain issued versions with the health-and-safety file process.

Check before saving or issuing

  • Client and contractor contexts reflect the actual project arrangements.
  • Duration, peak workers and person-days come from a current programme estimate.
  • Checked evidence exists and is accessible; the checkbox is not being used as the evidence itself.

Common problems

  • Actions look incomplete: select both client and contractor context before reviewing the result.
  • Notification indicator changes unexpectedly: check working days, simultaneous workers and person-days as three separate inputs.
  • Record reads as proof of compliance: use it as an action and evidence register, not a legal conclusion.

Output

A CDM coordination record with notification indicators and unresolved evidence.

Professional boundary

The workflow is not legal advice and does not determine every duty or demonstrate compliance with CDM 2015.
