How to use the CPD Tracker
Choose the professional-body tracking profile and reporting year first, and keep the certificate, attendance record or other evidence somewhere you can reference.
The workspace starts blank. Load example temporarily fills the controls with demonstration data; reload or use the tool’s New or reset action, where provided, before entering live information.
- Set the Tracking profile, Reporting year, architect or team member, registration number and practice role.
- Add an activity with title, completion date, hours, format, provider and all relevant topic categories.
- Record what was learned, how it changes or supports practice, and the evidence URL or internal file reference; enter AIA learning units only when formally awarded.
- Add development objectives and planned actions, then review annual hours and topic coverage before exporting the record.
Worked examples
These examples explain the set-up, expected output and review needed without changing the tool workspace.
Facade fire-safety seminar
- Set-up
- Record the provider, date, duration and relevant topics, then describe one specific lesson and the drawing or review procedure it will change.
- Result
- The activity contributes to the selected reporting year and retains a reference to its attendance evidence.
- Review
- Confirm the activity is eligible under the selected body’s current rules and that the reflection is personal and specific.
Annual coverage review
- Set-up
- Enter completed activities throughout the year and compare their topics with the development objectives.
- Result
- Gaps are visible early enough to plan useful learning rather than filling the record at year end.
- Review
- Check hours, dates, categories and evidence against the professional body’s submission portal before filing.
Suggested workflow
Place the tool in a controlled project or practice process rather than treating its output as an isolated verdict.
- Set development objectives from real competence needs, project lessons and practice responsibilities.
- Record each activity and reflection soon after completion while evidence and intended action are clear.
- Review coverage periodically and reconcile the exported record with the current professional-body requirements.
Check before saving or issuing
- Activity dates and hours fall within the selected reporting year and are not duplicated.
- Reflection explains a change in knowledge or practice rather than repeating the event description.
- Evidence references are accessible to the person who may later verify the record.
Common problems
- Hours appear in the wrong year: check Date completed and Reporting year.
- Topic coverage is misleading: select only topics materially addressed by the activity.
- AIA learning units are missing: record only units confirmed by the provider; attendance time is not automatically an awarded LU value.
Output
A CPD activity record with development goals, evidence and annual summaries.
Professional boundary
Professional bodies and licensing authorities set their own current requirements; verify eligibility, categories and submission rules directly.
